Who invented the Sky God and why?

It’s hard to fathom that most folks, with the exception of a few intellectuals, used to think  the world was a flat round. This belief was finally physically disproved in 1522AD, when the men sailing with Ferdinand de Magellan, completed a circumnavigation of the globe.

It’s likely that most people thought they lived in a dome shaped environment, not the least due to religious influences. An environment, not unlike those snow dome’s you can buy at a gift shop. The dome itself, was known as the “firmament” and it was also assumed, water was below and above this environment. Further, up until just 500 years ago, folks also thought the earth was the centre of the universe. Seems we are an egostistical lot, we humans. As it turns out our ego’s are our own worst enemy.

The idea that we lived in an environment surrounded by water is why the religious texts often use the phrase “as above, so below”. It’s this notion that also explains why the creators of the Noah fable, knowing the maximums of rainfall, had to suggest that water came from below the earth as well as from the sky.

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights (Genesis 7:11–12).

I did the math on the “above” ground water’s potential to cover just Mt.Ararat (5137m above sea level), rather than the whole global land mass and places like Everest (8848m). Firstly, the known water capacity will only rise sea levels to 70m above the current levels[1]. This means that we are 5km short of water for every inch on the globe. That’s a lot of water to conjure up and then return to whence it came.

I also found that the heaviest rainfall recorded for one minute[2] was 1.5 inches (38mm). Given that we are trying to cover, at least, 5km on every inch of the planet, my crude math suggests that it would have to rain three times heavy than on record for every single minute of those 40 days and nights to cover Mt. Ararat. That Genesis entry suggests it’s authors either knew this was an issue. Or perhaps someone has made an adjustment to that part of the story to cater for an oversight.

In my opinion, it’s more conceivable that folks who had a snow dome view of the world would more readily accept that water came from below the earth to cause Noah’s flood. But wait, this is just the beginning of this little fairy tale.

Jesus said, “Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the All.” [And after they have reigned they will rest [peace].]

Gospel of Thomas – Saying 2 – That’s right not the Bible!

Ok Jesus, keep seeking and I will find, you say.

Now its time for humanity to take the next step towards reality. Shedding all forms of false beliefs on the way. The ultimate move to an authentic liberty. Truth and knowing. It’s time to only accept what can be known as pat of our reality. Science and Gnosis (knowing) are the way.

Jesus said, “If your leaders say to you, ‘Look, the (Father’s) kingdom is in the sky,’ then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, ‘It is in the sea,’ then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is within you and it is outside you.

When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty.”

Gospel of Thomas – Saying 3 – Nope, also not in the Bible.

So Jesus is saying this kingdom of the father is within. Not a SKY GOD. Ok, but how come, half the population on the planet are in dispute with Jesus on this one.

Looking back on the research for my series of books, I find I can empathize with blokes like Galileo. I can appreciate the odds that these scientific pioneers had to deal with in bringing enligtening truths to the public of the day. One small step for man, one fricken giant leap away from faith and ignorance for mankind. I urge people to have a look at a recent debate on Science and Religion between Bill Nye and Ken Ham. ken I knwo you mean well, but am almost ashamed to call myself a fellow Australian.

So, how is it so many of us came to believe God was a man who sat on a throne, not unlike an emperor, and lived in the sky.

Not quite the Jesus model.

Well, there is a very simple explanation. So simple, you’ll wonder how these religions have lasted as long as they have. Such is the curse of beliefs. They are a “sticky” problem. Particularly when they profit empires.

So what is this simple answer to why we think God lives in the sky?

Cyrus the Great and his Zoroastrian Magi told our forefathers a lie when they created religious propaganada, rewriting or inventing the Bible’s Book of Isaiah. Personally, I’d back they invented this prophetic propaganda. They corrupted the religion of the gentle Jewish shepherds of Judah to serve Cyrus and his ambitions to build an empire and rule the known world. Welcome to the true original sin of Empire. Corruption one of five, that left us with this curse on humanity – belief.

I’ll come back to how Cyrus specifically conned us into believing in a sky king in a minute. First I what to show the utter cruelty of this man. The level of disrespect he had for his fellow man. Although, it will be uncomfortable for some, I’d also like you to check out this video about a Berkley study[3]. What can I say, our ego’s are sensitive and cunnigly protective little beasties. This is who we are. We are that, we are.

Writing, is an interesting process. It’s an education within it’s self. Another thing it taught me, an author is supposed to capture their main theme early and in as little words as possible. You have fleeting chances to grab attention and get that all important message out. It’s why newspapers and magazines have headings and bylines. Biblical articles are no different. In other words, if you want to know why a writing exists, it should be evident in the first paragraph or title.

Now lets examine (Cyrus’) Book of Isaiah and look carefully at the opening gambit.

ISAIAH 1 – the very first thing our sky God is supposed to have said to Isaiah, an alleged biblical prophet, concerned the Jewish people. This is our authors target audience.

1 The vision concerning Judah and Jerusalem that Isaiah son of Amoz saw during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

A Rebellious Nation

2 Hear, O heavens! Listen, O earth! For the LORD has spoken: “I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me.

Really God, really… and here’s me thinking those Jewish folks were simply gentle shepherds tending their sheep and the empire minded Barbarians that surrounded these shepherds were more of a problem. You just can’t pick ‘em can you lord Yahweh. Seems your chosen lot are an accursed crew of evil doers, Lord. Why bother with them? Seems they were no good plotters and schemers of  all sorts of horrors as they tended those sheep. What was it that set them on their evil ways.  Chirp! Chirp! Is that the sound of crickets I hear! Perhaps it was contaminated water. Maybe you couldn’t think straight because you were jealous over thier affection for Baal or Elohim, maybe? Bit harsh.

“The Torah tells us that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Rachel, andKing David all herded goats and sheep. And in this week’s Torah portion, Vayeshev, we see that Joseph also worked as a shepherd alongside his brothers”

(Genesis 37:2)

And what’s this savagery the Assyrians were doing to those gentle shepherds. Why aren’t they coming under your all seeing all knowing gaze. Instead Ezekial (23) says you blame Jewish Prostitutes? Something is screwy here Lord!

And that Cyrus the Great, he’s such a sweetheart. Wouldn’t hurt a fly, good old Cyrus parading round in his magic flying chariot. A friend to everyone. Three times our God Yahweh has nothing but praise for his man Cyrus. Isaiah 44:28, 45:1 and 45:13. Here’s one of them. Folks, you’re about to find out why.

I will raise up Cyrus in my righteousness: I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild my city and set my exiles free, but not for a price or reward, says the LORD Almighty.”

Isaiah 45:13 (Bible)

As a quick aside, as I was writing this note, I found myself thinking of the suspicions I had  about the genuiness of the Works of Flavius Josephus , that 1st Century AD benedict arnold to the Jewish folks, alleged Jewish Historian and his tales of the noble Roman battle against those rebellious and troublesome Jewish people. Again, Why did God name them his chosen ones?  Not to mention the fact that those Essene Jew hippies had to be also wiped out. Ahhh… ahhh… bulltishoo… excuse me for sneezing.

Now, it’s recognized, that Yahweh gained a promotion. And it’s also known, that this promotion occured in the Book of Isaiah.

With the work of Second Isaiah (the theoretical author of the second part of the Book of Isaiah) towards the end of the Babylonian exile (6th century BCE), the very existence of foreign gods was denied, and Yahweh was proclaimed as the creator of the cosmos and true God of all the world.[4]

Before Isaiah, the Jewish folks where just like many other communities of the day. They, like the Romans and Greeks, had also invented multiple gods to explain the spiritual and unexplained aspects of the natural world. They all had a variety of Gods for those knowledge gaps.

That’s right folks, it’s good old Cyrus that invents monotheism when he put that idea of a Sky God into our heads and “his” captive and chosen people. As you’ll soon see, as we traverse this sea of corruptions, the Cyrus legacy has been a curse to the Jewish folks, not a blessing. Rather than their “Great” liberator, Cyrus entrapped the Jewish folk in his bullshit belief paradigm.

And that “belief” curse, has since spread to the four corners of our globe.  No less a plague on humanity than the black death. I kid you not. Imprisoning folks in belief bubbles and denying those that choose belief, truth, reality and a fair share of their communities economic resources. The kings were taking a prideful lions share as well as folks souls.

The problem is not the believers, though. They are the innocent and trusting victims. No, the problem is those that propagate and profit from these scams. Real Jesus knew, the con.

Jesus said, “If a blind man leads a blind man, they will both fall into a pit.”

Gospel of Thomas – Saying 34

Let’s bring some of these scattered ideas together now and see specifically where this concept of a monotheistic sky God was actually created.

If you were told by all your trusted wise men that there was a God King, grander than your earthly Emperor and his best friend, and he sat in his heavenly throne above a snow dome perhaps it’s not hard to conclude that you felt terrorized by this God and his omnipresent beingness. I mean, what if he told the Emperor, you sinned. That would be the end of your days for sure.  From their nieve perception of reality, a sky God (Yahweh) was able to see and know their every move. Where’s the liberty and sense of freedom. Geez, it’s as if this Isaiah yarn was deliverying Cyrus with one all mighty and powerful drone in the sky.

If you’ve ever had the opportunity to visit online religious forums, you may have come across the “evidence” some “clever” religious apologists present from the Book of Isaiah to demonstrate that God(Yahweh) knew the world was actually a globe. It’s this very phrase that establishes our SKY King GOD. It’s all bullshit, to be perfectly blunt.

ISAIAH 40:22 starts as follows,

He[Yahweh or God] sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, …

Usually that’s all the apologists provide. But, now let’s add the rest of ISAIAH 40:22.

*… and its people are like grasshoppers.

He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,

and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

How do you suppose you would pitch a tent over a globe? I think it’s more logical to conclude that this is a description based on that snow dome world view, with the tent canopy being the firmament. Well, was God just working within the framework of the ignorance of his subjects. But if so, how did he buzz around the globe and keep an eye on everyone else simultaneously. “Obviously” the answer must be more magic. Ahhh… ahhhh.. ahhhh…. morebulltishoooo!

So, in summary, if your trusty prophets, your three wise MAGIc men and your new king said that there was a universal God called Yahweh that sat enthroned on this dome, it’s not unthinkable that you ‘d feel you were under constant surveillance by an all seeing and all knowing master of the universe. Not to mention you belonged to a captive audience and it was hardly what you’d call a democracy. In fact, that’s what must have happened, based on all we know to this day. At least half of us still believe these fabrications to be “truths”.

For the full overview of the five corruptions theory, the true Jesus philosophy and some unexpected Nostradamus twists, consider purchasing my book. Or not… we each must choose the wolves we feed.

“An old Cherokee told his grandson “There is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is go(o)d. It is joy, love, peace, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth.”

The boy thought about it, and asked “Grandfather, which wolf wins?” The old man quietly replied. “The one you feed.”

The way to the truth

In a way, I suspect this theory of mine about 5 “Great” religious corruptions, will be no different a shift in consciousness than when we moved to the idea that our world was actually a  globe and that we were not the centre of the universe. Such is the nature of the hold belief has on folks when it becomes their identity (ego) .

  1. Bill White Jr says:

No one ever believed in a flat earth, how could the sun rise in one sky and set in the other if it were flat? They spoke in a way that was figurative just as we do when we say sunrise and sunset or I am going up to Canada or down to Mexico.
The tent of the sky was figurative, only someone trying to discredit someone would make that point.

Wrong Idiot…. The science says differently … besides youre ignoring the rest of the story. 5 religious corruptions not just the one that invented the Sky God
